Community Website Partnership

A place to inform, connect and engage the people of Sisters Country.

What We Do

A group of Sisters Country Community Builders met in December 2019 to nominate and select a few projects to collaborate on during 2020. One of the projects chosen was the development of a community website. It was hoped that an online community calendar could help prevent organizations from holding events on the same day, which could affect attendance and revenue generation. Volunteer needs could be publicized on the website.

During spring 2020, Citizens4Community nominated Sisters Country for inclusion in the Community Website Partnership (CWP), a Ford Family Foundation funded initiative that helps rural areas to develop an online community building tool. In July 2020 the CWP Hub team welcomed Sisters Country as the 10th community website partner, offering their project management, public relations and website design expertise to the Sisters area volunteers who would design the website. C4C offered to serve as the fiscal sponsor for the website project, providing the seed money to begin the design process.

A website Leadership Team was formed to oversee the creation and management of the community website. A smaller Design Team began to meet weekly by Zoom to choose the website features, provide photos and content for the online information tool. Website users are taught to input their information into the calendar and directory, invited to share news and stories about local community builders, and encouraged to report on projects that are positively impacting Sisters Country. Local residents can find emergency, government and social services on the resources page. The website will help to create awareness, connect and engage organizations and people serving Sisters Country. Volunteers are needed to help with website user training, writing stories, website monitoring and management.
