Website Guidelines

This community website has been developed collaboratively by residents of Sisters Country and the Community Website Partnership for visitors and community members to share and find local information, events, resources, announcements, volunteer opportunities, and projects. We encourage nonprofits, government agencies, businesses, places of worship, and groups to share what they do and what they have to offer by creating a free account and posting in the directory, calendar, volunteer, and announcements pages.

Posting on this community website is free; however, you must have a registered account in order to submit listings, events, or announcements. You are encouraged to connect your posts all in one convenient online space- create a directory listing for your organization or business, post a calendar event, share a volunteer opportunity, make an announcement and get the word out widely via the press release submission form.

Open to the Community

This community website provides locals a convenient place to search and post services, opportunities and information shared directly by community groups, businesses, and nonprofits. All posted information is public and intended to benefit and strengthen our community.

Golden Rule

Treat others with respect and kindness. No slander, cursing or negative speech targeting a person or group of people- please remember the old adage: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Keep it PG

Keep content suitable for a general audience. Please post appropriate content- no slander, cursing, or any imagery not suitable to a general audience.

Keep it Local

Posts should originate locally and should be for the public benefit and open to the community. No garage/yard sales, or promotional sales events, unless they are part of a fundraising initiative or greater community effort. No solicitation or personal listings or selling wares.

What's Public is Public

When you post contact information (i.e. phone number, email address, etc), people can contact you without signing up for the website. We are not responsible for the emails and phone calls that you receive through this service.

We can Help

The Community Team can answer questions you might have, administers the site, moderates posts, and can even edit spelling and grammar mistakes! Posts not meeting the website guidelines may be archived or deleted.

Photo Privacy Guidelines

Sisters Country Connects (SCC) values the way in which photos, videos, and other media help our community grow and flourish. Visual media from community members and events helps to tell our story, provide users and visitors relevant information, highlight the work of those who serve our community, display the vibrancy and joy of our community and allow us to communicate via our website and other digital and print media.

Photography and videography may be in progress during community projects and at community events. SCC may use the media recorded at these public events in various ways including but not limited to: newsletters and other printed and electronic materials, and digital media (e.g., SCC website, Facebook, and other social media sites).

We strive to ensure that photography and videography are used in safe and positive ways. We will not knowingly and intentionally post any photo, video, or other recordings that would be embarrassing, objectionable, or hurtful to any clearly, personally identifiable individual in the recording.

OPT OUT

We do our very best to ensure that any photos or videos that are published adhere to our photo privacy terms. If you do see a photo on the SCC website or social media outlets (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) that includes you or your child and would like it removed (even if the photo was taken at a public event/setting), please contact us at [email protected]

EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY BEST PRACTICES

The following is a guide for community members regarding respect for people’s privacy when taking photos at community events and posting images to the community website.

Prior to photographing a community or private event, take time to ensure the people you are photographing are aware of the following:

  1. They are being photographed
  2. Who is taking the pictures
  3. What the images will be used for
  4. Who the photos will be shared with.

It is good practice to tell people who they should contact if they do not want to be photographed, or if they want their images deleted later. Keep in mind that people might have their own reasons for not wanting themselves or their children to be photographed, and it is important to respect this.

PHOTO SHARING GUIDELINES

Before submitting a photo with identifiable people to the community website, please make sure your images meet the following criteria:

  1. Photos were taken at a public event and/or in a public setting.
  2. Photos were taken at a private event and have permission to share images from the event organizer.
  3. Photos do not include any personal identifying information (full name, home address, etc.)
  4. Photos with identifiable people have granted permission to have photos of them posted to this website. (see photo release form below)
  5. Photos do not include children under 18 unless you received a photo release from the parent(s) or legal guardian. Always check with other parents before posting and sharing images that include their children.
